Look for items with Garnet gemstones

There is a misconception that garnets are a red gem but in fact they come in a wide variety of colours including purple, red, orange, yellow, green, brown, black, or colourless. A blue variety is even available, but it is a very rare colour-change variety that varies to red/pink depending on the illumination.

Garnet is the birthstone for January, and has been used since the Bronze Age. Its name is derived from the Latin word granatus, meaning like a grain, which refers to the mode of occurrence wherin crystals resemble grains or seeds embedded in the matrix.
